Carbondioxide Fire Extinguishing System (UL Listed)
CO2 is a colorless, odorless, electrically nonconductive gas that is a suitable medium for extinguishing fires. When a fire is detected, the CO2 suppression system will activate and discharge CO2 into the area where the fire is present. The CO2 displaces the oxygen in the environment which will cause the fire to be extinguished.
On large hazards where several cylinders are required, a manifold is used to connect each cylinder by means of flexible hoses and check valves. Cylinder valves control the CO2 flow to the hazard through properly sized pipe, terminating in nozzles that apply the CO2. Flow rate is controlled by nozzle orifices as well as pipe sizes. The master cylinder valves can be automatically and/or manually operated.
SFFECO UL Listed Carbondioxide system extinguishes fire by reducing the oxygen content of the protected space and or local flame front to a point where it will not support combustion.
Oxygen reduction below 16% by volume will extinguish most fires.
